What the Boss Likes – feeling like I’m in a sketch comedy skit and cat picture

Recently, I’ve been demonstrating how a couple of conservative Christians fail. Those familiar with my blog and those of others will recognize the screen handles of “colorstorm” and “silenceofmind”. Over on SOM’s blog, I’m addressing their nonsense and the poor fellows can’t keep from “liking” my comments.

Alas, I didn’t grab poor CS’s like since he’s removed it, but I do have his quote “Count me in too club among the throngs who ‘like’ the comments by good atheists when they dare to make fools of themselves on a world wide stage.”

and here’s dear SOM’s words “It takes courage for you to venture into “enemy” territory and speak your mind (such that it is).” It would be courage if these poor dears weren’t so impotent. Alas, for CS and SOM, there is nothing to fear from them. Oh and hi, SOM, since you are following my blog yet again. He makes 661. Alas it isn’t quite yet 666 followers. 😀

Oh and SOM has this peachy claim: “

Club, Reading the Bible cover to cover all by yourself is useless. And you did useless twice. I did useless once and learned my lesson. Jesus tried and failed to explain the meaning of the Bible to the Jews of his day. Like them, you don’t understand the Bible because you choose not to. You anthropomorphize God because that is all that will fit in your atheism-debilitated mind.

I cannot speak for the Great Lion, but I began learning the meaning of the Bible from scripture scholars and decades of study and contemplation. I think we fully comprehend the Bible when we get to heaven.”

I do love me a Christian who says that reading the bible by oneself is worthless. Per SOM, you have to have a human involved and per SOM, his omnipotent, perfect god is a failure. Tsk, such a puny god.

Now this rather bizarre behavior from our conservative Christians does remind me of one of my favorite Key and Peel sketches:

I also felt like putting up some cat photos too.

that pillow is a rather expensive needlepoint Ehrman tapestry pillow of the first day of creation myth from the bible. This is Hera.
This is Athena trying to be lovey to Aggie.
Pile of cats, Aggie, Jason and Hera.
aggie being a sleepy boy
and aggie being a sweety
Another pile of cats, Matilda, Aggie and Hera
Jason often looks like a nitwit but here he is caught in mid-snit

    1. aw, poor SOM, he’s afraid of cats too. Just like any ignorant medieval Christian. How nice to have such consistency of stupidity. I just have to give them enough rope and they metaphorically hang themselves.

and resistance is futile? Aw, more impotent threats from poor lil’ SOM. How sweet!

      1. I have been adopted by Terrible the Cat. Everyone in the neighborhood knows her as Terrible. She lives off of hugs. She would rather be hugged then eat. But I feed her anyway. I feed her mackerel. Yes, that’s right, stinky fish. And she loves it! After she gets plenty of hugs, of course. And yes, resistance to such cuteness is futile.

      2. most curious that you say this “Try as they might, cats are all bad, all the time. And resistance is futile.” and then go into claiming to like cats.

you may indeed like cats. You are as incoherent as usual trying to say that then.

      3. SOM, you need far too much help to figure anything out. Your impotent antics are an amusement, nothing more.

first you claim: “““Club, Reading the Bible cover to cover all by yourself is useless. And you did useless twice. I did useless once and learned my lesson. Jesus tried and failed to explain the meaning of the Bible to the Jews of his day. Like them, you don’t understand the Bible because you choose not to. I cannot speak for the Great Lion, but I began learning the meaning of the Bible from scripture scholars and decades of study and contemplation. I think we fully comprehend the Bible when we get to heaven.”

and then you claim “God makes himself understood”

        which is the lie? Both?

It’s always great fun to see SOM fail again. Bill? Who are you talking to, SOM? No one called Bill here currently. The term impotent has only been mentioned a few times here on this blog post, and it is all about *you*. You aren’t based in Aristotle, nor modern biochemistry or the founding fathers. Neither is your religion or your silly little god.

      6. “What the hell, Club? Quit butting in on my private conversations!”

ah, SOM must have another imaginary friend called “bill”, along with the one called “god”.

      7. “Club, I have many imaginary friends and you aren’t one them, unfortunately.”

and there we have it, SOM admits that his god is imaginary. Alas he still can’t show where there is a “Bill” here.

  1. As I’ve said, I don’t engage these fools with any expectation of changing their mind, but for the sheer entertainment value. Occasionally, it’s better than open-mic night at the Komedy Klub! 😆

  2. It’s true! Pictures of cats increase reader participation. After two posts with no comments, cats do their thing.

Regarding Silence of Mind’s initial comment, I think we tend to underestimate the subtlety and nuance that is possible in a believer’s mind and hence miss instances of sarcasm and irony. And the clever ones among them will use this to play with us by pretending to say dumb things. At least, if you want to look on the bright side, that’s a tenable interpretation. Okay, this paragraph is getting clumsy and awkward, but you gotta remember what I’m trying to do here. I’m trying to give believers the benefit of the doubt when they appear to say stupid things. So, like, keep an eye out for that, eh?

    1. Oh, I don’t underestimate them at all, at least not usually 😉 Since they are known liars, and most astonishingly ignorant, all of their posts get treated as nonsense. It saves time.

      2. It’s a damn shame when you get two religious cranks together their heads don’t explode. We will have to settle for laughable tit for tat-eries I suppose.

I’ll never forget the time I saw two Church of Christ women having a babble quote war. They were hurling insults in the form of babble quotes. I thought for a minute there they would actually forego the illusion of decency and have a damn cat scratch cat fight, but alas it didn’t happen 😉

      3. Indeed, I have seen it. I have to be a little more careful about phrasing it as you have though 😉

Man must tread carefully on internet. Lest he unleash that which best lie in the shadows 🙂
