I’ve tried to grow some veg and herbs this year. My monster tomato plant (seen here) has made these itty bitty Black Krim tomatoes:

Now, I do have a larger one growing on a smaller plant but I seem cursed with tiny tomatoes:

Oh! But the tiny ones are very tasty. I don’t really have a garden, but do have a compost heap. And out of the compost for the last several years I’ve been getting grape tomatoes, just because the seeds got dumped in there. So I’m happy to get these volunteer tomato plants!
But if I did the hard work you did, I’d be sorry to only get tiny tomatoes too!

Yep, it’s alittle frustrating. I did have some volunteer compost tomatoes a year ago. 🙂

I had some “volunteers” last year too! Probably seeds from rotten/mouldy grape tomatoes that had been relegated to the compost pail in the kitchen.
When I saw this post I was reminded of the subreddit r/mightyharvest, which is a wonderful picture gallery of micro-veggies. 😀

I got 4 more wee tomatoes off the plant this weekend.

I bet they’re tasty, though!

they were delicious. The skins were crazy tough though. Oh well, I guess there is a learning curve with tomatoes.

You know, as a kid I had an aversion to tomato skins. I did finally manage to learn to eat the skin, but before then I would literally cut the skin off and then salt and eat my tomatoes. I got over it but now I’m thinking I had a mild texture aversion due to being autistic…which I was only diagnosed for at the age of 60!
But anyway, if you ask me if I had to choose between giving up chocolate or tomatoes and tomato products…I would give up chocolate first! I inherited the tomato gene from my dad, who had a lovely garden full of tomatoes and come August, I’d head down to Dayton with the kids and would end up bringing a huge bag of tomatoes home. Alas, my dad has been gone for 27 years.

I had the same problem and worse with peaches. I learned the trick of plopping them in boiling water to skin them at a rather young age.
and yep, I have a far more savory “tooth” than I have a sweet one. I love a good tomato, mayo and white bread sandwich.
