Not So Polite Dinner Conversation – Hillfaith fails yet again

Occasionally, Mark Tapscott at Hillfaith, a conservative group trying to get their cult into government, tries very hard to claim a contradiction in his bible isn’t really a contradiction. He always fails. (BTW, memes at the bottom)

Here’s my response to his rather silly attempt to claim 6 days and 8 days between the same events isn’t “really” a contradiction.

as usual, Mark, you simply invent lies as your “source” does. I do love this bit of complete garbage “Second, Lyons points out that saying eight days and counting the days the prophesy and Transfiguration in the figure, as Luke does, is not a contradiction of Matthew and Mark counting only the six days between the two events.”

so, why is counting 8 days, and counting 6 days, not a contradiction. Why is it okay for the authors of Mark and Matthew to simply leave out days? Why is it okay to randomly add 2 days, when the speech took place before the transfiguration. Oh right, you have no explanation, just a baseless assertion to make your contradiction filled books of nonense work. Lyons gives no reason why its okay, since you didn’t see fit to mention it, so you have nothing as usual.

let’s look at what the bible actually states

24 Then Jesus told his disciples, ‘If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 25 For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what will they give in return for their life? 27 ‘For the Son of Man is to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay everyone for what has been done. 28 Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.’
“17 Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain, by themselves. 2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became dazzling white.” – Matthew 16-17

“34 He called the crowd with his disciples, and said to them, ‘If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 35 For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake, and for the sake of the gospel,[i] will save it. 36 For what will it profit them to gain the whole world and forfeit their life? 37 Indeed, what can they give in return for their life? 38 Those who are ashamed of me and of my words[j] in this adulterous and sinful generation, of them the Son of Man will also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.’
1 And he said to them, ‘Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see that the kingdom of God has come with[a] power.’

2 Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain apart, by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, 3 and his clothes became dazzling white, such as no one[b] on earth could bleach them.” Mark 8-9

and then we have what is in Luke:

“23 Then he said to them all, ‘If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will save it. 25 What does it profit them if they gain the whole world, but lose or forfeit themselves? 26 Those who are ashamed of me and of my words, of them the Son of Man will be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. 27 But truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God.’

28 Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus[f] took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. 29 And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white.” Luke 9

yep, it’s a contradiction, since there is nothing to show that 6 or 8 is the right answer. There is a difference of 48 hours, no matter how Mark and Lyons want to lie.
