Not So Polite Dinner Conversation – just how screwed up the xmas story is

The fellow over at Hillfaith, has this “Beginning at 11:00 am at the Faith & Liberty Ministry Center located on the Senate side at 109 2nd Street NE, right behind the Supreme Court Building, the Nativity Scene where Jesus was born two millennia ago will be recreated.

The baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph will be there, along with the Wise Men, the Shepherds keeping watch over their flocks at night, and, of course, the camels, donkeys, cows and sheep that were also witnesses.” – BTW memes at the bottom

Curious how that never happens in the bible. What these cultists believe is a mash of nonsense, invented to try to make the story work.

In the gospel of Matthew, we have no mention of any stable or animals at all, just ““Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel”

(which means, God with us). 24 When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, 25 but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.”

Curious how ol’ Joseph managed to call the kid not Immanuel, but Jesus aka Joshua. They don’t mean the same thing, despite what christians often claim.

Then we have the wise men coming some time later, following a “star” to a….house, no stable or animals mentioned at all. They come, go and then we have the flight to egypt, which no other gospel mentions, as well as the “massacre of the innocents”, also not mentioned, and curious how this god does nothing to save kids, despite christians claiming how their imaginary friend cares everso much for them. It’s hilarious how desperately the anonymous auathor of “matthew” tries to make prophecy work, having poor mary and joseph wandering hundreds of miles to hit their marks. And then nothing else is mentioned until JC meets John.

In the gospel of Mark, there is no mention of the birth of jesus at all, we go right to John meeting jesus. No virgins, no star, no wise men, no shepherds, no animals.

In the gospel of Luke, we do have the virgin nonsense again, and this time it’s not Joseph who is told, but Mary. Then Mary goes to Elizabeth, and the whole story of John and Jesus starts there. Of course, John seems to have no idea about the whole virgin birth thing.

This is where the census comes from, a ridiculous claim of how people were scrambling all over judea to go back to their hometowns which would accomplish nothing at all for the roman empire and there is no evidence for it at all. So the whole bit of nonsense of mangers and animals also has no reason to happen.

The business with the shepherds also makes no sense since they would be in their fields in the spring, and that they simply wander off from their sheep to see a a child. Supposedly they wander back, speaking about what they saw, which was evidently promptly forgotten for 29+ years. Jesus supposedly shows up in the temple several times, and yep, that was forgotten about too.

Merry christmas, that time of year when christians demonstrate for the world just how screwed up their religion is.

  1. I’m not an atheist though my husband is. And we were once dedicated, involved Christians 40 years ago.

I think a lot of people believe that Christians leave due to having their feelings hurt by other Christians. I suspect what happens is simple: while fellow Christians provide support, , it’s easier to believe the weird stuff. When that support is ripped away due to mean Christians, it is easier to open one’s eyes.

In the end, I think only ill of Christians who are mean. They want us to accept THEM and their ways, while condemning humanists, universalists, Democrats, libs, socialists, LGBTQ+, etc etc.

As for Christmas, it is a holiday where families can get together. And family is whoever we want it to be. I do suspect many liberals etc will be rethinking plans with their MAGA relatives.

      1. by claiming that the biblical hell is “seperation” from god not the sadistic fantasies of fire, worms, thirst, etc. and when christians claim that their god never ever sends anyone to hell, when both jesus and paul are depicted saying the exact opposite.

      2. Ah, okay. You’re right, “separation” is my sugar-coated word. Though, as time goes by, I question bible theology more and more. I don’t have answers, only open-ended opinions.

    1. The road to my atheism took a long time. You don’t just wake up one day an atheist. It has to stew for a while. We all travel different roads, but sounds like you may be on the journey. You are seeing the behavior that made me wonder what I was witnessing in these so called “good x’ians.” I went from wanna be believer, to an agnostic, to a hard agnostic, then finally it all just let go. It probably took 20 years to get there. Reason, eventually has to be the be all, end all, of our decision making. Well, for some of us… May your journey find reason.

  2. No, no, no. You’re supposed to listen to, and believe everything they say. And not pay attention to what they do. Nor, ask ANY questions. The whole damn thing falls apart under the lightest of scrutiny. This is but one of many idiotic tales of stable crap in the babble. How they get all goo goo eyed over this stupid $hit is beyond me.
