Not So Polite Dinner Conversation – always good when christians try to lie

Found this Christian post, and as usual the poor writer is too much of a coward to allow comments. The thoughtlessness and ignorance are typical of theists, who never think to consider how the arguments they repeat actually work.

“There is an irony in atheism.  The atheist must posit the existence of God in order to not believe. “

It’s hilarious when theists try this argument. No, dear, we don’t need to posit the existence of god in order to not believe. We just need to know that you can’t show your god exists.

“”Atheism always assumes the existence of a god or gods in order to be able to negate their existence.”

Curious how you must posit the existence of Ra, Aten, Odin, Zeus, Wakan Tanka, etc for you to not believe in them. And by your argument that means that they do exist.

“But let’s be honest. The atheist does not go around with any gusto denying the existence of Zeus or Thor.”

Yep, since believers in those gods aren’t committing genocide, aren’t trying to force their nonsense on others.

“God cannot stop you from doing evil without taking away your freedom, and if he takes away your freedom, you are no longer human. “

Curious how this god repeatedly stops people from doing what they want in the bible, so no freedom at all. Shame how christains either lie about their bible or have never read it and depend on ignorance.

“But even deeper still is the fact that merely by asking these questions about evil in the world, it shows that everyone has an inward sense of right and wrong, justice and injustice.”

Curious how everyone has a subjective idea of right and wrong, and even christians can’t agree on what morals their imaginary friend wants.

Christian morality is demosntrably subjective, with each inventing a list of morals they claim their god wants, and yet the poor dears can’t show that their god merely exists, much less agrees with them. They also have the problem that they must insist that their god doesn’t have to follow these supposedly “objective” morals  since they have to invent excuses why it is okay for this god to commit genocide, to kill people for the actions of others, etc. This makes their morality subjective to who someone is. it also shows their morality is little more than might equals right.

“But if you have a conscience, and claim to be an atheist, and still value concepts of right and wrong, then you are listening to an inward beckoning of faith in an ultimate good, where justice reigns and wrongs are righted. That too is an assumption of the good, which in spite of all evidence in the world to the contrary, is an appeal to or at least a hope in the possibility of a good God. Do you have that hope within you? “

I have a conscience. No god needed, and yet again, christians can’t agree on what is good or evil. No need for a “good god” to have an opinion on what “good” is.

  1. There is an assumption there that atheists are interested in doing evil. Good and evil are what we/they do, not what we/they believe or do not believe.

And the next time I come across a believer in Zeus or Thor, I shall deny both gods with great gusto. 🙂

I always wonder when you (and they) post these things, and as I read them, if they (believers) ever think about the fact that most atheists in the USA (I cannot prove this, but I’d give good odds) at least practiced, if not believed in God, some form of religion, most likely some denomination of Christianity.
