Yet one more desperate christian tries to claim atheism is a religion. They need to pretend everyone “really” agrees with them, and that “everyone” has a “religion”.
Alas, for their delusions, we don’t.
Here’s my response to the poor dear:
no matter how many christians try to lie and claim atheism is a religion, it is not.
Atheism is a conclusion that a particular god or gods doesn’t exist. That christians need to lie and try to claim everyone “really” agrees with them is rather pathetic.
This bit is just hilarious:
“Beliefs about ultimate reality; Ethical and moral systems; Communities of belief and practice; Evangelism and apologetics; Legal recognition in some jurisdictions.”
atheists have facts about reality. atheists have many different moral and ethical systems. There is no “practice” with atheism, so Robert fails miserably there. No apologetics since there is nothing to excuse, and legal recognition doesn’t make a religion. It’s great when christians are so desperate.

Atheism is a religion the way “bald” is a hair color. The way “off” is a TV channel. It’s such projection on the part of the religionists – they have convinced themselves that if they have a religion and worship something then everybody has a religion and worships something. Sheesh.

exactly. The need for external validation is notable when it comes to theists.

I confess to only scanning the source post. But there you have it–a church full of atheists doing their religion thingy. Photographic proof.
And no, while many of us may share some other opinions due to science, logic, and experiences, we are far from the same. We have nothing like dogma or organization. That is simply not true. We know it. They do not.
I can’t prove it, but I think most believers, especially Christians, do not “get” being atheist, period. The problem is when one rejects a “belief” that there is a God (I include agnostics here, but that is another story). In fact, we only ask, “prove it and we will believe in said god. That has nothing to do with Christianity or any other religion. Also, unless they prove Jesus, said former non-believers are unlikely to join that “son of god” bandwagon. And do not get us started on denominations, however many there are. Religion is superstition. All religion is bad. “Religion spoils everything.”
But yes, we do think that freedom from religion is as valid as freedom of religion (if even that really exists in practice). And with the current regime of unbenevolent dictatorship, it does not matter anyway.
I must ask though, who are they trying to convince? Us? Or their own sheep (their metaphor). Up is not down. Black is not white. Lies are not truth. But none of that will ever stop them. 🙂

IMO, it’s always to convince themselves. there are fewer and fewer reasons to believe in their nonsense, so they must do what they can to bolster what little they have.
