I’ve gained a fair number of new subscribers lately. I’d like to welcome them, and my old friends who have been so very kind, smart, funny, and wise over these years, and offer to answer any questions you’d like to pose.

You can also read why I am an atheist by reading my origin story (I’m a few years older now, and happily married for 25+ years now) Alas, no superpowers. I do think that I would like to be a superhero based on Sekhmet, with all sorts of energy projection powers. Alas, my weakness would be beer.

25 years of marriage does seem really long. How do you do it?

for a very long time, I wasn’t sure I could do it, with my anxiety and his bipolar. That’s subsided (yay, modern medicine!) and it seems to come down to us being friends as well as lovers. We enjoy much the same things, so it eliminates most fussing. I’ve also come to realize that, rather than complaining that one’s spouse isn’t doing something, just do it yourself, or simply ask to have it done. They may see nothing wrong and playing the passive aggressive game doesn’t benefit anyone.

Hah! In that you like port, any you would recommend? I very much like ports but alas, I have not much of a sophisticated palate. I’ve tried 25 year aged and the slosh that comes from Taylor in New York state. I can tell very little difference for the price.

Port is a regulated AOP, so even the cheapest has to meet a very high quality standard 😉

Do you think I should lower or increase my consumption from 1 bottle a month to maybe 4 or 8 a month of malt beer?

I drink a bottle and a half of wine per day. Sometimes also a brandy or port 😀
