Now, the US Office of Personnel Management has said it’s just fine for people to bother fellow employees about their religion during work.
“What does this new guidance allow?
The new guidance was established in a memo from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), which runs the country’s federal civil services. It provides a guideline for “protecting and enforcing each federal employee’s right to engage in religious expression in the federal workplace,” the memo said. Federal agencies should “allow personal religious expression by federal employees to the greatest extent possible” unless it would “impose an undue hardship on business operations.”
Categories of religious expression that should be allowed include the “display and use of items used for religious purposes or religious icons,” said the memo, including the display of religious items such as crosses and mezuzahs on desks. The most notable part of the memo, though, was guidance for religious talk and proselytizing at work. Federal employees “may engage in conversations regarding religious topics with fellow employees, including attempting to persuade others of the correctness of their own religious views.” These employees can also “encourage others to participate in religious expressions of faith, such as prayer, to the same extent that they would be permitted to encourage co-workers to participate in other personal activities.”” – “New White House guidance means federal employees could be hearing more religious talk at work”
Of course, this is to support certain forms of Christianity and that’s it. I’m sure any variety of non-christian would find that their display of whatever they find representative of their religion would quickly be vandalized or complained about by many Christians who demand special treatment for their version of the cult.
This is just more of the conservative nonsense to try to make the US a theocracy. They claim “anti-christian bias” (and here: “Not So Polite Dinner Conversation – “anti-christian bias””) when all that they “suffer” is not being able to force their nonsense on others. This “directive” is just more of that desperate need to get more members in the cult since the cult and its many versions is failing since their promises don’t work out and their beliefs are rather suspect since they support an orange rapist, serial adulterer, cheat, liar, thief, fraud and coward who claims not to need “forgiveness” from their god.
It should be amusing to see the cultists ever so sure that only their particular flavor should be supported fighting. And since so many of these nitwits claim atheism is a religion, we could proselytize too. But most of us know better than to bother people at work with personal stuff.
