The Friendly Atheist has a good post about the silly “conversion” that Scott Adams supposedly made to Christianity. Adams was the creator of the comic strip Dilbert, and managed to be oblivious to the fact that he became the loser he often attacked in that strip.
Pascal’s wager is the old nonsense that it is worth worshipping a god since one may get some kind of reward in the afterlife. It ignores some important points:
- it takes an idiot god to accep such a wager, assuming that this god doesn’t care about your motives and it only craves quantity, rather than quality of worshippers
- it ignores the fact that you waste time and resources if you are wrong
- It assumes that there is one god.
It’s rather hilarous how pascal’s wager makes any religion associated with it entirely worthless.

Death by chili powder? That has to be an interesting story.

Are Christians still using Pascal’s Wager to defend their faith? lol.

Believe it or not, yes. They’re rapidly losing things to hold on to, so let’s just go that way; better to believe than not, JIC.
Doesn’t make any sense to me either….

It especially doesn’t make sense when you could use the same reasoning for any other God, or Superman.

😂 But I LOVE Superman!

If I had to worship a God I would much prefer Superman to Yahweh to be fair.
