Not So Polite Dinner Conversation – new pope, same old nonsense

The new Pope, Leo, supposedly corresponded with an atheist. You can see the article here. (memes below)

Unsurpsingly, his response is the same old nonsense.

“Pope Leo responded to Rocco by quoting St. Augustine, who said, “You were within me, but I was outside myself, and there I sought you!”

curiously every cult makes a similar claim. And they still can’t find their god nor produce it.

“These words are enough to tell you that those who love God, those who seek Him with a sincere heart, cannot be atheists,” the Pope wrote.”

Untrue, and that’s no surprise. As usual, the claim that one must be “sincere” to find this imaginary friend is no more than Linus insisting that he is sincere and that the Great Pumpkin should show up. And there is another problem, Christians do not agree on whose version of this god is the right one. Which one should be “sought”?

“He highlighted that “the real problem with faith is not believing or not believing in God, but seeking Him!” “He allows himself to be found by the heart that seeks him,” the Pope continued, “and perhaps the right distinction to make is not so much between believers and non-believers, but between seekers and non-seekers of God.””

Curious how that doesn’t work either since my own experience of being a christian and praying for help when losing my faith shows that this is quite al ie.

“He explained that even those who think they do not believe may, in reality, be ardent seekers of God. “You see, Rocco, we are all longing for Love, we are all seekers of God. And therein lies the dignity and beauty of our lives,” the Pope concluded.”

I can be a seeker and that does not mean what I seek exists. Love is great and, happily, the christain god has nothing to do with it. A being that has no problem with genocide, slavery and killing people, including children, for things they didn’t do has nothing to do with love. It also has nothing to do with justice or fairness.

  1. The man spent his entire life in devotion and obedience to an illusion. I would expect nothing any different.

I tried the Pope’s suggestion. My disbelief grew. Obviously, it was my fault for not trying hard enough.

However, The Catechism of the Catholic Church does blame how many Christians and the denominations for the rise of atheism. Many agree.
