a rather awesome video (not safe for work for language) that has been around but we just encountered it and thought it needed to be spread a little further. Always good to have a metal message about freedom and human rights especially when the US is flirting with such stupidity as we are now.
Being nice doesn’t preclude standing up for what’s right.

I hadn’t seen or heard of this, what’s it from?

I found that video quite disturbing. I assume that was the point. I automatically recoil when there’s a child using profanity but I am assuming, again, that it was part of the powerfully disturbing message. Actually, I think horrifying would be a better word.

it’s definitely part of the metal vibe.

I found the tone of the piece disturbing – so much so I’m not sure I understand the real message. What I think it is saying and what I feel it is saying seem to be at odds with each other. Perhaps on purpose?

could be. to me, it’s saying that Germany learned to deal with diversity.

That’s what i thought, but it feels like the message is that unless you are as accepting and tolerant as they are, they will be violent towards you. In other words I found the message threatening instead of encouraging. I think for many that might be counterproductive.

I can see how the strong stand might be seen as threatening.

Is this supposed to be satire or propaganda? Right now I’m leaning towards the latter.

well, it’s showing that folks can be nice and not be terrified of immigrants, even metal dudes.

So propaganda it is:

And as Herr Böhmermann (the video’s creator) has since discovered, Deutsch free speech does not encompass the recitation of poems mocking Turkish presidents.
