Not So Polite Dinner Conversation – nothing like a christian shooting themselves in the foot…again

Long time readers may remember a sad little man called John Brayan, who styles himself as a “christian comedian”. He, and his very peculiar daughter, have been commented on here and here and here . I wonder how the poor dears are dealing with their orange rapist, pedophile, and serial adulterer.

John fails wonderfully again with his attempts to claim that non-christians don’t want to rape *only* because of, gasp, the law! Actually, we just don’t want to rape, and the law has nothing to do with it. Empathy and self-interest do. The law can help control impulses with the threat of punishment, and surprise, that is exactly what restricts Christians, but they simply invent their “lawgiver”.

““We backward, simple-minded religious folks believe that our desire is for wickedness all the time. We don’t trust ourselves to want righteousness. Like you, we’re one impulse away from a life of crime. The belief that God is watching and judging is a safety net that keeps us from believing we’re great people because we don’t currently feel like murdering anyone.”

Happily, we aren’t like John and his fellow cultists. I don’t have such poor impulse control.

“AHA! I got ya, John, you jerk!!! If you need a god to tell you to be good, you’re not a moral person!!!”

So…nothing I’ve said so far has sunk in? That’s a sign of a seared conscience. I can’t help you understand so I’ll finish up talking to the Christians.

Christians: Don’t be fooled. The pagans have a lesser god telling them how to behave. It’s called the ‘law’ and it punishes them when they sin. They bluster about doing good because they ‘don’t want to be bad,’ but they’re lying. They do not refrain from crime because they transcended evil through pure enlightenment. They refrain because prison sounds unpleasant. They fear the consequences of doing evil. Their pride doesn’t let them see it.”

Yep, no “seared conscience” and I’m sure John would have no idea what one even looked like. He’s just whining since his cult fails again and no one needs *him*. Christians can’t agree on what laws their god wants, and each makes up their own. They have no “enlightenment” just the fear of their bogeyman. They want to be bad but they are concerned about punishment. John and his fellow cultists can’t even say that they don’t want to rape since their god has no problem with that, with murder, with slavery, etc. What does that tell someone about them?
