Not So Polite Dinner Conversation – Reflecting some more on the SCOTUS rescinding Roe v.Wade

I have the following. Please do feel free to borrow as you will.  I will guess that my Christian blog followers will be deathly silent. 

We have had the pleasure of watching at least two Catholics (I had mistakenly called them evangelical Christians) lie under oath, Kavanaugh and Barrett. (most curious since evangelicals are sure that Catholics are heretics at best and satanworhippers at worst)  They took their oaths on bibles and per their god.  They claimed they would allow precedent to stand.  They lied, quite intentionally, and happily have shown that there is no reason to trust Christians at all.  I do wonder, do they think if they pray for “forgiveness” and their god will accept that, or will they simply treat it as a vending machine, doing what they want, and demanding forgiveness every time.   Hmmm, nothing like liars and hypocrites underlining how useless Christianity is.  They have shown that no one can trust a conservative Christian at all; they are cultists, little different from the Taliban.

In my latest Freedom from Religion Foundation newsletter, I have the story of Arely Hernandez, killed by Christians during a supposed “exorcism”.  They beat her to death and starved her until she died.  Her mother’s words were “It is what it is.”  So much for this religion being “pro-life”.  One has to wonder where this god was, since it supposedly could have stopped it.  Did its plan require a little girl to suffer and die?  Where are the Christians taking a fit about this?  Oh yes, they have much trouble criticizing other Christians since that means their own nonsense will be noticed. 

Of course, these anti-choice people won’t agree to the fact, that since they wanted the children, it is up to them to provide good homes, good food, good medical care, good education, etc for *all* of these children. No one else now has that responsibility.  You wanted these children, you now must treat them well like any one who wants children should. 

Clarence Thomas said out loud what the QOP desperately hoped he wouldn’t, that any and all rulings are up for grabs.  He mentioned marriage rights and contraceptive rights.  Unsurprisingly, he didn’t mention miscegenation rights – inter-racial marriage), being married to a white woman.   He is a hypocrite, as most, if not all, conservatives are.  

The SCOTUS could have waited for next year to give this ruling.  They were idiots and did it a few months  before mid-term elections.  It’s as if they wanted the Democrats to win.  They QOP has nothing to whip their idiots into a frenzy anymore, and everyone else now knows that the Catholics and Evangelicals want to remove freedoms.

In all of history, it’s never been the good guys who take away freedoms and rights.   Christians have found themselves squarely as the “baddies”, even the “liberal” ones unless they do a damn good job of showing that they have nothing to do with the wannabee theocrats.



And for your convenience, let’s see how many times this god kills children or advocates their killing in the bible.

Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. -Exodus 21

Of course, there are many more (and surprising, how much this god has against farm animals since it senselessly requires those killed too).   Now, funny how this god promises it won’t harm children for what the parents do: 18 The word of the Lord came to me: What do you mean by repeating this proverb concerning the land of Israel, “The parents have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge”? As I live, says the Lord God, this proverb shall no more be used by you in Israel. Know that all lives are mine; the life of the parent as well as the life of the child is mine: it is only the person who sins who shall die. – Ezekiel 18

So, was this god lying?  Is this god’s morality subjective aka situational?  And hmm, since this god never wanted Adam and Eve to know what evil and good were, one has to wonder if it didn’t want them to question it when it does such things and knew such things were coming.    The only reason that, per the bible, that humans have morality is because Eve gave it to them.  And then perhaps you have to thank the ol’ snake itself. 

The common Christian excuse is “oh well, they are better off in heaven.”  Nothing is quite so cold and so selfish. 

Not So Polite Dinner Conversation – the cowards of January 6

“A 37-year-old Pa. man awaiting up to a 20-year prison sentence for his role in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol has taken his own life, instead.

KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh reports the obituary for Matthew Perna of Mercer County quotes his family as saying he died last week of a “broken heart” and “the justice system killed his spirit and his zest for life.”” Pennlive.com

Poor thing, he tried to attack the government, got people killed, was held accountable and couldn’t accept that he failed. Even his obituary ended up with lies to cover up his failure.

“He attended the rally on January 6, 2021 to peacefully stand up for his beliefs. After learning that the FBI was looking for him, he immediately turned himself in. He entered the Capitol through a previously opened door (he did not break in as was reported) where he was ushered in by police. He didn’t break, touch, or steal anything. He did not harm anyone, as he stayed within the velvet ropes taking pictures. For this act he has been persecuted by many members of his community, friends, relatives, and people who had never met him. Many people were quietly supportive, and Matt was truly grateful for them. The constant delays in hearings, and postponements dragged out for over a year. Because of this, Matt’s heart broke and his spirit died, and many people are responsible for the pain he endured. Matt did not have a hateful bone in his body. He embraced people of all races, income brackets, and beliefs, never once berating anyone for having different views.”

quite the set of false claims there. There was no “ushering in by police”. If everyone recalls, the police were trying to keep these idiots out.

The video is very disturbing and shows someone in desperate pain.

Suicide not the action of someone who was given something they can handle. And actually the bible does say that this god won’t give you moer than you can handle.

He killed his own spirit and zest for life by believing an idiot like Trump and the QAnon liars. No one else is responsible.

Not So Polite Dinner Conversation – “It disappoints God.”

Christians are very uncomfortable when a non-christian points out that Christians don’t agree on much at all. C.S. Lewis was so afraid of the problem, he advocated to lie to any potential Christian when it came to the many many internecine contradictions between Christians (preface, “Mere Christianity). That’s a bit of a problem when the bible has this god really hating lies and liars, with exceptions given even if the believer thinks they are lying *for* this god (Romans 3).

We also have another Christian making the same protests, that the disagreements between Christians on the most basic claims of their religion really don’t show that their religion is nonsense. His arguments fail.

“Disagreements among Christians is NOT evidence for the falsity of Christianity. Scientists disagree on all sorts of things. Just take a look at the numerous theories about the origin of the universe. People will always interpret evidence differently.”

There are not “numerous” theories about the origin of the universe. We have the BBT, which is confirmed by prediction and observation. How it exactly happened is up for debate, but not for much. Theists have as many different ideas about the creation of the universe as there are their gods. Not one can show that their gods exist, much less are the creator or how this creation was done. Young earth creationism, anyone? Old earth? Theistic evolution?

Bedard also has the problem that each theist claims a divine and absolute truth being given from a perfect, omnipotent, benevolent being. Why and how could it not get its message across? This god is limited by its creations if it somehow *can’t* make itself understood. How curious. If it won’t make itself understood, then it wants the death and misery that these misunderstandings cause.

Not very flattering for this god in any case.

“I understand when a person is confident in their convictions but that doesn’t give them the right to publicly attack the other person or be disrespectful.

No one should do this but Christians should especially avoid this behaviour. It turns off non-Christians. It injures the body of Christ. It disappoints God.”

Bedard decides he can speak for his god here. And every single theist pretends that their god agrees with them. Bedard is disappointed so his god is too. Bedard doesn’t like the dirty laundry of Christianity exposed, so this god doesn’t either. This god could clear things up with a word, but strangely doesn’t.

Bedard is also mistaken in his insistence that no one has the right to publicly show someone wrong. If this were the case, then no one should dare question wannabee Nazis, white supremacists, etc. Happily, this attempt to claim that showing someone wrong is “disrepectful” is simply nonsense.

If someone is so desperate to depend on lies to try to avoid challenges, then their claims are suspect immediately.

Really, good to have differences of opinion is good when it comes to the supposedly divine truth that will determine if you are “saved” or not? That’s rather silly. It’s even sillier since Christians have been far more than “nasty” to each other over these differences. Christians have killed many of each other over these differences. No god to be seen to stop that.

Happily, now most countries have secular laws to keep these nitwits from continuing their murderous ways.



Not So Polite Dinner Conversation – when Christians quote mine and fail

Unsurprisingly, a Christian has taken it to use a quote on this forth of July to attack atheists. Alas, the whole quote shows that Ulysses S. Grant is not on his side at all.

What the nitwits at Does God Exist claim“If we are to have another contest in the near future of our national existence, I predict that the dividing line will not be Mason and Dixon’s, but between patriotism and intelligence on the one side, superstition, ambition, and ignorance on the other.”

As our society rejects God and the Bible, people desperately search out unproven and usually false claims from human leaders. In addition to destroying faith and stopping people from living as Christ would have them live, it also eats away at the very fabric of democracy. What Ulysses S. Grant actually said.

“I do not bring into this assemblage politics, certainly not partisan politics, but it is a fair subject for soldiers in their deliberations to consider what may be necessary to secure the prize for which they battled in a republic like ours. Where the citizen is sovereign and the official the servant, where no power is exercised except by the will of the people, it is important that the sovereign — the people — should possess intelligence.

The free school is the promoter of that intelligence which is to preserve us as a free nation. Resolve that the State or Nation, or both combined, shall furnish to every child growing up in the land, the means of acquiring a good common-school education, unmixed with sectarian, pagan, or atheistic tenets. Leave the matter of religion to the family altar, the church, and the private school supported entirely by private contributions. Keep the church and state forever separate. Not So Polite Dinner Conversation – more fear and ignorance

And more lies from a  Christian contradicted.  As usual, this is from John Clayton over at “Does God Exist Today?”   he’s too afraid to allow comments.   

“We have frequently pointed out that a massive percentage of the pain and death people experience is directly related to their choices in life. If you don’t believe in God, what do you use for support when you hit the usual frustrations in life? My brother Jim bought into my parent’s atheistic beliefs. For much of his life, he lived as an atheist.”

John, and the mouse in his pocket, thinks that only his god is suitable for supporting through life’s frustrations.  He seems to also need to image that all non-christians turn ot the bottle.  Happily we don’t, and there are plenty of supports for us, family, friends, psychotherapy, etc. 

“When my youngest brother grew frustrated with the everyday struggles of life, alcohol became his tool for coping. That caused him to be unable to help others or find meaningful companionship. When he struggled with his normal sexual drives, he did not believe that marriage was the only way those feelings could be satisfied. My brother’s marriage failed because of his alcohol use, and it also seriously affected his relationship with his two sons.”

A pity he didn’t find his family of any help, since John tried to lie to him.  Brother was ill, not needing some imaginary god.

“My brother Jim was fired from his first teaching job because his alcohol use affected how he dealt with his students. One of his sons and I pleaded with him to realize what alcohol was doing to him, and gradually he began to move away from his addiction. He eventually got involved in Alcoholics Anonymous, started studying the Bible, and carried on extensive conversations with me about the existence of God.”

Alcohol addition is a disease, not a moral failing.  No god helps anyone, only humans do. 

“I finally convinced my brother Jim to go with me and a group of 50 Christians as we toured the Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, and the Canyonlands. In addition to showing evidence that the Bible accurately describes Earth’s history as revealed in these places, we all engaged in singing hymns, praying for one another, and studying God’s Word. At the end of the trip, my brother admitted that he could not be an atheist anymore and that he saw the validity of Christianity.”

John chooses to lie more to his brother.  Alas, the Grand Canyon shows that the noah flood to be impossible since a massive flood never sets down discrete layers each sorted from coarse to fine within itself. 

“What do people in our culture do to relieve the pains that come in life? The use of drugs, including alcohol, has skyrocketed in my lifetime. Developing a relationship with God and working with those of like faith to establish a realistic approach to failure and frustration is not on the radar for much of our culture.”

John inadvertently admits that his god does nothing at all if use of drugs and alcohol has supposed “skyrocketed”.  Christians can’t quite decide if they want to pretend they are persecuted and losing people or if they want to pretend they are the majority. 

“As people reject God, ridiculing the Bible,
 and questioning its relevance to the struggles of life, the problems they experience have grown. The ultimate result of this is a massive increase in health issues related to drug use and an enormous rise in legal problems, including prison terms. More than half of the prisoners studying our correspondence courses are in prison because they abused drugs.”

Alas, the bible has no relevance to modern humans, only those who want to pretend some magical being agrees with them. Nope, the problems that non-christians haven’t grown.  John is just upset since Christianity is indeed losing members and churches are emptying.  Nothing in links shows that there is any correlation.  John tries to lie again.  And funny how many Christians are in prison.  Hardly any atheists at all.  Amazing how this god fails constantly, eh?

Now, John finds he must try to scare people into his religion, as usual.  A religion that only has fear and ignorance to get people to believe isn’t much of one. Christians die all of the time.  It’s a pity they wasted their life on playing pretend.  John’s brother is dead.  That’s all. 

Not So Polite Dinner Conversation: lies told about Planned Parenthood, so does religion make you more moral?

The attacks on Planned Parenthood were started with a lie, continued with lies when the Christian organization, Center for Medical Progress (known to have lied before), intentionally tried to edit the videos to present people untruthfully, and have continued with the lies told by politicians who are too lazy or too biased to care about the truth.

What does it say about a religion that requires lies to press its claims? What does it say about those who remain willfully ignorant and who spread such lies? It seems that both are not interested in truth or freedom, but only in control.

It also seems that these folks sure didn’t notice those parts of the bible that say that lying is a big no-no, especially lying about other people.

Indeed, as this source says at the end, if the supposed “pro-life” people were indeed pro-life, they would never think to try to defund Planned Parenthood.  Their actions show, in no uncertain terms, that all they want is control.
