Not So Polite Dinner Conversation – some of the stupidest shit…

It’s notable just how much this list lies, takes things out of context, and generally demonstrates how willfully ignorant someone has to be to believe this cult’s claims.

Let’s take a look at what the bible actually claims and what reality says.

1. “He stretches out the north over the void and hangs the earth on nothing.”

North is a direction, it can’t be “stretched”. There is no “the north”.  One can’t hang anything on “nothing” (which always amused me since christians love to claim something can’t come from nothing).   Do explain how that works, dear.  Earth does not float freely in space.  The sun’s gravity keeps it in place.  There do seem to be planets that wander freely in space without a star, earth is not one of those. 

2.  “the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,  whatever passes along the paths of the seas.”

This is not “oceanography”, the study of the oceans which encompasses marine life, ecosystems, geology, chemistry, etc.  This is observation nothing more, and no magic is needed.  The ancients knew about fish, sea mammals, and currents, long before your cult.  The ignorance of the bible about the ocean is notable since it claims that there are sea monsters, Job 41.  As usual, cultists simply ignore the nonsense in their cult’s book when convenient.

3. “Can you send forth lightnings, that they may go and say to you, ‘Here we are’?”

This says nothing about light or radio waves.  It describes lightning, which is what anyone, even an ignorant cultist, can observe.  The word translated as lightning means lightning as a flash of light.  It is pathetic how these cultists must invent nonsense and lie about their bible, desperate to give their cult knowledge that didn’t exist at the time the bible stories were invented.

4. “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.”

Nothing about the laws of thermodynamics at all.  The first law is energy cannot be created or destroyed.  These only apply to closed systems.  The earth is not a closed system.  We don’t know about the universe. 

5. “that you may take it to its territory  and that you may discern the paths to its home?”

These frauds can’t even get the right verse number.  I suspect they mean Job 38:22-23: ““Have you entered the storehouses of the snow,  or have you seen the storehouses of the hail,²³ which I have reserved for the time of trouble,  for the day of battle and war?”

Which claims snow and hail are kept in magical warehouses and somehow are used in “war”.  Neither are true.  The ancients knew snow existed.  

6. ““Behold, Behemoth,  which I made as I made you;  he eats grass like an ox.¹⁶ Behold, his strength in his loins, and his power in the muscles of his belly.¹⁷ He makes his tail stiff like a cedar;  the sinews of his thighs are knit together.¹⁸ His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like bars of iron. ¹⁹ “He is the first of the works of God; let him who made him bring near his sword!
²⁰ For the mountains yield food for him  where all the wild beasts play.²¹ Under the lotus plants he lies,  in the shelter of the reeds and in the marsh.²² For his shade the lotus trees cover him; the willows of the brook surround him.²³ Behold, if the river is turbulent he is not frightened;   he is confident though Jordan rushes against his mouth.²⁴ Can one take him by his eyes  or pierce his nose with a snare?“

Curious how this critter isn’t even mentioned in genesis despite the claim this was created first.  There are no dinosaurs in the bible.  There are descriptions of monsters invented by ignorant humans.  This description has the poor thing eating in the mountains, sleeping in swamps or brooks. It’s not afraid of rivers.  It may be describing a hippo, but that also is unlikely since they don’t have impressive limbs.

7. “Have you entered into the springs of the sea, or walked in the recesses of the deep?

There are no “springs” on the sea.  There can be fresh water springs and hot springs under the water. Again, this is observation, not magical knowledge. 

8. “¹² He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised. Every male throughout your generations, whether born in your house or bought with your money from any foreigner who is not of your offspring, ¹³ both he who is born in your house and he who is bought with your money, shall surely be circumcised. So shall my covenant be in your flesh an everlasting covenant. ¹⁴ Any uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin shall be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant.”

Nothing about this is science, it is a bit of stupidity from ignorant humans who hack at themselves.  Hmm, did god make a mistake with making human males with a foreskin?   Some Christians claim it has something to do with blood coagulation, which would mean that it is observation.  Cut a male child’s penis and they could bleed out *if* the claim is true, so they managed to kill children and figured it out by trial and error.  It isn’t and newborns also need injections of Vitamin K after birth, which some of these idiots now refuse.  Eight is also considered a magic number since 8 people were on the ark, which is also ridiculous.   

9. “¹¹ For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life.”

No information, just “life” and that is an observation: no blood no life.  Bleeding out kills, that’s obvious.

10. “¹⁵ This is how you are to make it: the length of the ark 300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits.”

This isn’t a ship, it’s a box.  It would never survive the violent flood as claimed in the bible. 

11. “A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh,  but envy makes the bones rot.”  And “The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, and good news refreshes the bones.”

Again, nothing more than observation with an addition of very bad metaphor. 

12. “⁴⁵ “The leprous person who has the disease shall wear torn clothes and let the hair of his head hang loose, and he shall cover his upper lip and cry out, ‘Unclean, unclean.’ ⁴⁶ He shall remain unclean as long as he has the disease. He is unclean. He shall live alone. His dwelling shall be outside the camp.”

Again, observation and observation that led to a wrong conclusion for a disease that doesn’t need quarantine, leprosy.  It takes prolonged *close* contact for it to be transmittable, so the nonsense in the bible wouldn’t work in any case.  Other skin diseases might but not leprosy and these people were too ignorant to know the difference.   It also claims that disease can affect fabric like it affects skin. 

13. “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. “

Literally doesn’t mention time, power, space, matter or motion.  It makes a baseless claim that cannot be shown as true.  If this god can act, time had to already exist. 

14.  “³ And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.” And the rest of creation.

Curious how genesis 1 and 2 disagree on what was created when.  Genesis 1 has light being created before here were things to emit, or reflect, photons.  Water evidently was created before light, “the face of the deep”.  Then land was created.  Water was moved around.  Plants were created (no magical trees, and everything can be eaten).  Sun, moon, and little lights in a solid dome, “stars” were created, long after light. Birds, then sea creatures, then land animals were created.  Finally, humans were created.  Everything in the garden was to be eaten. God has to rest.

Genesis 2 says something entirely different.  Water and earth already exist.  No mention of light, stars, sun, moon, etc.  Adam is created.  A garden is planted containing magical trees and adam has to tend it for some reason.  Somehow this god needs to mention how great the minerals are from these places which supposedly have no humans in them.

This god then realizes that Adam shouldn’t be alone (no explanation why) and then creates land animals and birds to be companions to him.  God didn’t realize that these couldn’t be a mate for Adam and had to make Eve as an afterthought showing it isn’t omniscient.  Rather than making woman at the same time as man, we have the rib thing invented so women are to be subservient to man.

15. “²⁴ For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day”

No mention of “earth revolves with day and night at the same time”.  It’s about lightning, not the sun or day or night.   

16. “In them he has set a tent for the sun, ⁵ which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat.”

This is not about an orbit. It’s about a heliocentric system where the sun follows a path through the sky and stays in a tent that this god made for it.  The word translated as “rising” is actually “going forth”, which means the sun moves, not the earth. 

17. “It is he who sits above the circle of the earth,  and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,  and spreads them like a tent to dwell in;²³ who brings princes to nothing,  and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness.”

The word here is literally circle as a circuit, a line drawn by a compass. Another way to read it is as a vault, a solid object over a flat space, described in Genesis 1.  It does not mean sphere or ball.  The heavens are not a physical item that can be stretched or spread like cloth.  The bible also claims hat the earth is like clay under a seal, pressed flat.  The bible does mention spherical objects, a rag ball being thrown, Isaiah 22, where it describes this god tossing people in to a large country. Rag balls are common ancient toys, one being found in an ancient Egyptian tomb of a child from around 2500 BCE.   There is also a Hebrew word for “roll”, so the Christian attempt to claim that Israelites didn’t know what spheres were is hilarious.    

18. “¹⁴ And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, ¹⁵ and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. “

Nothing more than observation and plenty of other cultures knew about this long before this cult.

19. “¹ Anyone whom the one with the discharge touches without having rinsed his hands in water shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening. ¹² And an earthenware vessel that the one with the discharge touches shall be broken, and every vessel of wood shall be rinsed in water.

¹³ “And when the one with a discharge is cleansed of his discharge, then he shall count for himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes. And he shall bathe his body in fresh water and shall be clean.”

Ritual purification and removal of seen dirt only.  No mention of soap, no mention of germ theory.  No need to break things to make them clean but there is a need for some surfactant to remove unseen dirt and bacteria.

20. “So God created man in his own image,  in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

Simply false.  Men do not have genes from a single ancestor.  The y chromosome may come from a single shared male ancestor, and millions lived alongside this person. The other genes are from other males.  This does not mean one man made from dirt was the only male who lived.  This can show a possible genetic bottle neck, but only shows that males from one father dominated the breeding to only continue on that single “y”.  The lineage of humans is very much an inter-braided line. 

21. “ ²⁰ “Thus says the Lord: If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night will not come at their appointed time, ²¹ then also my covenant with David my servant may be broken, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and my covenant with the Levitical priests my ministers. ²² As the host of heaven cannot be numbered and the sands of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the offspring of David my servant, and the Levitical priests who minister to me.””

The claim should read “uncountable stars” not “unaccountable stars”.  ROFL. Damn stars, you can’t trust them to do anything.

In any case, there is nothing to say that the stars are uncountable.  It would simply take a very long time and a faster than light way of getting to them.  Same with sand grains, but no need for the FTL but a way to keep them from eroding. This is ignorant exaggeration, nothing more.  Jeremiah 33 says host of heaven, not stars, which translates as angels, not balls of fusing gas.  We also know that this god fails miserably with its promise.  The day and night won’t stop and don’t stop because of this god.
